As a Line
Producer, I often double as a Unit Production Manager when working on smaller
shows. I am involved throughout the entire production process from prep to wrap
and at times through post-production as well. During preparation I break down
the script and generate a preliminary schedule and budget that serves as the
framework for the shoot. While negotiating numbers and logistical theories, I
work with the Production Coordinator to pull all the elements together. I
organize and book the crew, cast, locations, facilities and vendors required
and negotiate the best possible deals with all involved. I handle contracts and
paperwork including agents, managers and unions. I work closely with the
Director, Producers and all department heads to provide them with support and
guidance and to secure the final schedule and budget. In general, I coordinate
everything that is needed to begin and sustain the production successfully.
